Senior account manager

Full-time, permanent, in-house position

The role

Are you an experienced SAM or even AM looking to make that all important jump in your career? We’re a fast paced, energetic and passionate team who are looking for a seasoned accounts professional who has that creative spark about them. This isn’t simply an executional role, we won’t be giving you a kit of parts for you to put together – we want you to bring more parts to the party!

The applicant who lands the role will be owning the relationships with key accounts, landing and  interrogating briefs, ensuring that the planning and strategy is correct, before being briefed into our internal teams. Although this role comes with a primarily higher level of focus, we want you to get your hands dirty, overseeing and managing the entire process, ensuring your incredibly high standards are consistently met, and so allowing the more junior members of your team to learn from your wealth of experience.

Excellent customer service

  • Understand the client – their business, products, objectives, marketing ideas and creative likes and dislikes
  • Understand each client’s expectations and deliver to those requirements
  • Keep in regular contact with all client contacts via mixture of phone, email, face-to-face, etc
  • Be very customer focussed and be the voice of the client in the office, challenging our team to consistently produce best end results
  • Build open and honest relationships with clients, allowing candidate to interrogate and challenge client briefs, perspectives, objectives, etc

Campaign management

  • Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently and effectively – on brief, on time and on budget
  • Understand processes and systems and how to progress projects as efficiently as possible
  • Attention to detail across all work – both client facing and internal
  • Ability to set and meet realistic expectations and to question client deadlines when required
  • Effectively communicate with the client and with studio on project status whether on time or delayed
  • Manage quoting process with a full understanding of margin requirements on projects
  • Ensure invoicing is managed effectively and in a timely fashion
  • Ensure quotes are clear to the client and that any additional costs are flagged as soon as possible
  • Work with directors to produce forecasts for the team and own the forecasting for nominated accounts
  • Work with the team to ensure profitability of jobs

Marketing programs and communications expert

  • Understand omni-channel / integrated marketing solutions, when to use each, how to add value and optimise each type of activity
  • Take ownership of projects from start to finish
  • Understand studio creation processes and different teams’ potential challenges to realise the brief
  • Have experience and understanding of both print and digital
  • Understand full range of 1973 digital services

Development of client business

  • Own client account plans, identify new and additional services and drive business development
  • Keep on top of client developments (new products, people etc.)
  • Prepare, develop and present proposals to clients
  • Competently demo relevant tools to clients when there is an opportunity

Business improvements

  • Identify ways that we can improve our processes, service and deliverables
  • Ensure identified improvements are implemented within the business
  • Ensure consistency of quotes, briefs and proposals across the business


  • Provide support and help to others when needed; both within account teams and across the company
  • Mentor account managers within the team by understanding their projects and providing support
  • Exhibit and enable effective communication skills

Qualifications / experience

  • Upwards of 6/7 years experience in Account Management
  • At least 2-3 years experience in managing a small team
  • This role would suit an experienced JAD or SAM, or a very experienced AM looking to make the jump up.

Front-end developer

Full-time, permanent, in-house position

The role

Providing the best experience to our customers and team by developing reliable, best-of-breed solutions across a multitude of briefs and platforms. The developer will take ownership of their work, collaborating with designers, copywriters and account managers to produce, proof, test, and troubleshoot responsive code across email and web, utilising the latest best practices and cross-compatibilities across the major email clients and web browsers, while adhering to rigorous branding strategies and internal quality standards.


  • Creating fluid, responsive, precise, front end HTML across emails, landing pages, forms and websites, and connecting back end services and logic.
  • Keeping abreast of new technologies, frameworks, best practices and latest UX to create robust, cross-compatible and on-brand experiences.
  • Seeking ways to innovate and create cutting-edge solutions that increase relevance and engagement, while taking into account practical real-world limitations.
  • Implementing proofing, testing and troubleshooting practices to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Taking ownership of code and responsibility of delivery working with automation software such as Eloqua, Marketo and Hubspot.
  • Collaborating effectively and positively with designers, copywriters, account managers and directors.
  • Building, configuring and maintaining dynamic WordPress sites.
  • Developing frameworks, templates and boilerplates to expedite accurate project turnaround.
  • Providing time estimates on work and meeting deadlines.
  • Reporting and analysis of campaign and website data, feeding learnings back in to future development.


  • 4+ years HTML, HTML5, CSS (including SASS) responsive web and email programming skills.
  • Knowledge of jQuery and PHP / MySQL.
  • Organised and process-driven to ensure other team members can pick up work.
  • Keen eye for matching design, excellent attention to detail and experience of adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Good understanding of web accessibility, UX and best practices.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment as well as being independently driven.
  • Knowledge of email automation platforms preferred but not essential.
  • JS Frameworks like React, Vue.JS &/or Angular a bonus.
  • GIT or similar.
